Italian unions voice concern over EU steel crisis response
Italy “…cannot pay for the crisis of the European steel industry,” says the secretary of the Italian trade union Uilm, Rocco Palombella, in a statement seen by Kallanish. Following several reorganisation processes, the Italian steel industry produced 22 million tonnes of crude steel in 2015, “…losing about 4mt of steel that we used to export and now we have to import,” according to Palombella.
