ISM index rises, metals lag behind
The Institute for Supply Management’s October index showed a general strengthening of the US manufacturing economy, but both the primary and fabricated metals industries displayed contraction, Kallanish reports.
The institute’s manufacturing index increased 0.4 percentage points to 51.9% in October, while the associated new orders index fell 3 percentage points to 52.1%.Values above 50% indicate general manufacturing growth.
