Iranian billet exports approach 2 million tonnes
Iranian billet production rose 11% on-year in the eleven months through 18 February to 8.72 million tonnes. Slab output meanwhile grew 8% to 8.11mt, according to newly-released Iranian Steel Producers Association data monitored by Kallanish.
Output was supported by foreign demand, as eleven-month billet exports surged 29% on-year to 1.89mt, while slab exports ballooned 1,416% to 1.33mt.
