Iran’s seven major steelmakers increased crude steel production 14% year on-year in the first six months of the Iranian year, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).

In the period 21 March-22 September output grew to 9.4 million tonnes, the organisation says in a note monitored by Kallanish.

Mobarakeh Steel Complex (Mobarakeh Steel Company, Saba Steel Company and Hormozgan Steel Company) produced 4.74mt, followed by Khouzestan Steel (KSC) with 1.91mt. Esfahan Steel (Esco) had an output of 1.12mt, South Kaveh Steel (SKS) made 479,137t and Khorasan Steel produced 502,630t. Chadormalu’ output was 433,854t and that for Iran Alloy Steel was 210,976t.

Nine Iranian steelmakers also increased finished product output in that period by 8% to 5.64mt. MSC group produced 3.43mt, Esco 1.08mt, Oxin Steel 370,101t, Khorasan Steel 272,899t and the Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Automotive Sheet Company 116,124 tons. Ahwaz Rolling and Pipe Mills Company (ARPCO) output was 86,304t and that for INSIG was 14,494t. 

Major Iranian mining companies produced a total of 11,276,598 tons of DRI in first six-month of the current Iranian year, registering growth of 19% y-o-y, Imidro adds.
