Iran drives Mid-East April crude steel output growth
Iran drove April crude steel output growth in the Middle East versus March. Middle Eastern countries’ combined crude steel output was up 7.9% or 311,000 tonnes on-month, and 4.2% on-year, to 4.22 million tonnes, according to the latest worldsteel data.
April coincided with Ramadan this year, during which working hours are restricted in the Gulf Cooperation Council. Production and consumption therefore typically decrease, Kallanish notes.
