India’s Orissa Metaliks orders billet caster
India’s Orissa Metaliks has ordered a 384,000 tonnes/year continuous billet caster from Primetals, which is scheduled for commissioning next month, Kallanish learns from the technology supplier.
The three-strand caster will produce 100mm square billet for conversion into rebar for the domestic Indian market. The machine is capable of hot direct rolling billet to rebar without reheating, which will save energy.
