India’s imported scrap demand slows
The demand for imported scrap in India has remained subdued this week, with no major deals being concluded, notes Kallanish.
The price for West-Africa origin HMS scrap is at $380-385/t while offers for EU-origin shredded scrap are at $410-412/t cfr India. However, bids for the same are heard at $400-405/t levels.
The lack of activity coincides with sluggish market conditions, partly due to the local Hindu festival coinciding with Eid holidays this week.
