India's scrap bulk buying signals steel demand optimism
Indian demand for imported ferrous scrap has remained stable in the retail market, while there has been notable activity observed in bulk purchases in April, Kallanish notes.
Interestingly, these bulk purchases mainly targeted US-origin scrap, with shipments slated for Chennai and Kandla ports.
Deals for Kandla port involved shredded material ranging from $402/tonne to $415/t cfr, and HMS (80:20) at $395-400/t, for arrivals in May and June.
