Indian coke imports fall, as coal supply improves
Indian met coke imports dropped by 9% year-on-year to 1.2 million tonnes between January and April 2024, according to lineup and customs data obtained by Kallanish.
As the world's second-largest steel manufacturer, India relies heavily on imported coking coal, and in recent years, it has also become a net importer of metallurgical coke, particularly from China and Indonesia.
