Indian HRC consumers threaten court action against import duties
India’s Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) has warned it could go to court in a bid to remove the recently imposed 20% safeguard duty on all hot rolled coil imports. The duties are a significant barrier to East Asian exporters, including Japan and Korea as well as China, but will also increase costs for Indian processors and manufacturers, Kallanish notes.
