India crude steel output, consumption grows in July
Indian crude steel production rose 12% on-year to 9.73 million tonnes in July, against 8.69mt last year. India’s finished steel output surged 10.6% to 9mt against 8.75mt produced a year earlier. The nation produced 37.53mt of crude steel in April-July.
Steel Authority of India (Sail)’s July crude steel production rose 22% on-year to 1.5mt, while hot metal production was clocked at 1.59mt. Sales dropped 17% on-year to 1.32mt, Kallanish notes.
