Costlier imports lift Turkish domestic scrap prices
Most Turkish steelmakers have further increased their domestic scrap buying prices since last week, due to the ongoing rises seen in imported scrap prices, Kallanish observes. Only a few mills kept their prices unchanged on Wednesday.
Imported scrap prices are recording sharp increases this week. This is mostly due to the significant rise in freight rates and the supply shortage in major scrap provider countries.
