Import surge, export slump undermine Turkish consumption growth
Turkish finished steel consumption rose 13.8% on-year in April to 3 million tonnes, although imports surged 30.4% to 1.56mt, according to Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD) data monitored by Kallanish.
Finished steel exports in April slumped -9.1% to 1.49mt, although their value rose 15% to $1.3 billion.
