Ilyich contracts Primetals for hot strip mill revamp
Metinvest’s Ilyich Iron and Steel Works has contracted Primetals to carry out basic engineering in the revamp of its 1700 hot strip mill, Kallanish learns from the Ukrainian steelmaker.
The work will improve the unit’s productivity, improve coil surface quality and reduce waste when rolling slabs. The mill will also be able to handle coils up to 32 tonnes in weight compared to the current 27t.
