Hegang Xuangang shuts down 1800-cubic metre blast furnace
Xuanhua Iron and Steel (Xuangang), a subsidiary of Hebei Iron & Steel (Hegang), closed down a 1,800 cubic metre blast furnace on 8 December. This had been producing around 4,000 tonnes/day previously and will be moved to its Leting coastal relocation site in Zhangjiagang city from April 2017.
Xuangang says it has stored enough billet for December production, helping to limit the impact of the relocation on actual supply, Kallanish notes.
