Hebei announces modest 8m t/y steelmaking capacity reduction target

China’s northern Hebei province has announced it will try to reduce its PM2.5 levels, a key benchmark for air pollution by 6% in 2016. As part of achieving this it has noted that it will cut ironmaking capacity by 10 million tonnes/year and steelmaking by 8m t/y, Kallanish notes.
