Hebei province sets steel capacity control targets

China’s Hebei province aims to control its steelmaking capacity to under 200 million tonnes/year, according to the provincial environment protection plan for 2016-2020. Official data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows last year Hebei produced 192.6 million tonnes of crude steel, up by 2.27% year-on-year.
