Heatwave affects German waterborne steelmaking materials transport
This summer’s record heatwave in Europe is not only having serious consequences for the wildlife, but also for parts of German industry. The waterborne transport of the main volumes of raw materials for steelmaking is being maintained, with only minor disturbance in mills’ logistics. Material shipped by inland waterways can still be moved but with lower volumes and using more vessels.
