Gupta: Whyalla could grow to several million t/y
Sanjiv Gupta, whose GFG alliance has agreed to buy the bankrupt Arrium, told workers during his first visit to Arrium’s Whyalla steelworks on Monday that the site had the potential to house a steelworks. This would have several millions of tonnes/year of capacity. In the immediate future, the new owners expect to invest in reducing raw materials costs and ensuring energy supply, Kallanish notes.
