Growing China exports push down Turkish capacity utilisation
Growing Chinese and Russian steel exports will drive a further decline in Turkish crude steel capacity utilisation to 54% in 2015, according to Ali Pandir, board member at the Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association (CIB).
Only 34 million tonnes of Turkey’s 50 million tonnes/year crude steel capacity was utilised in 2014, while in 2015 this is seen falling to 32mt. China is expected to export 100-120mt of steel in 2016.
