German study proposes scrap pricing mechanism environmental bonus
A study carried out by Germany’s Fraunhofer Center for Economics of Materials (CEM) proposes that the environmental benefits of using scrap be considered in the pricing mechanism.
The study, commissioned by steel recycling federation BDSV, defines the financial value
of the use of steel scrap by reducing/preventing the costs of climate change. For Europe, this means a saving of €20 billion ($22) per year, Kallanish reads in a summary.
