Germany's February steel production rises on EAF surge
Crude steel production in Germany totalled 3.5 million tonnes in February, an increase of 4% on February 2019, when the level was particularly low, according to steel federation WV Stahl.
The increase was more notable at EAF mills, where production rose by 8%, against 2% for oxygen-route mills. The overall increase could be attributable to restocking activity from an unusually low inventory level, which happened in parallel with price hikes in January, (see Kallan…
