German steel production seen falling further
In the course of the lockdown caused by the coronavirus, crude steel production in Germany continued falling in May, Kallanish hears from steel federation WV Stahl.
Following a year-on-year dip by -24% in April, output in May fell by as much as -27% to 2.57 million tonnes. The drop at oxygen-route mills was again much more pronounced at -30%, while that of EAF mills fell by -20%. In the period from January to May, output was 14.98mt, down -14% on-year.
