German steel production falls -2% in 2018

Crude steel output at German mills last year came down -2% from 2017, Kallanish learns from a news brief by industry federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung (WV) Stahl. Pig iron output fell by the same degree, to 27.27 million tonnes. Crude steel production in 2018 totalled 42.44mt, of which 29.73mt were made in blast oxygen furnaces, while 12.7mt came from electric arc furnaces.
