German steel production recovery stumbles
Crude steel output at German mills in February at 3.1 million tonnes was 10% lower than in February 2020, writes steel federation WV Stahl in its monthly update. In January, output was still 6% up year-on-year.
The turn ends a gentle upward trend seen in recent months, WV Stahl observes, and notes that “the recovery of the steel economy in Germany remains prone to disruptions”.
