German steel production lowers on-year in 2016
German mills produced 42.1 million tonnes of crude steel in 2016, -1.4% less than in 2015, and thus meeting earlier forecasts, steel federation WV Stahl tells Kallanish.
December saw a year-on-year increase by 8% to 3.2mt, after October and November had seen dips of -2% and -4%, respectively. The fourth quarter in total saw crude output reach 10.1mt, slightly less than a year before. Capacity utilisation remained roughly stable at 86%.
