German scrap prices increase amid new demand, exports
German scrap prices increased in mid-January due to higher demand from some domestic steel mills and exports to countries outside the EU, say local market participants. Sources expect this trend will probably continue until the end of the month.
“In the first two weeks of January, there has been good German demand and shipments to Turkey, where steel producers are restocking,” a scrap collector form Bavaria tells Kallanish.
