German scrap market expects January instability amid uncertainty
German scrap prices increased very slightly in December after most steel mills in Europe finished restocking, according to German scrap market participants. Most sources say it is not yet possible to know exactly what steel scrap prices can be expected in January.
Prices in southern Germany are unchanged, while in some other parts of the country they increased by only €10/tonne ($11/t) this month, a Bavarian buyer tells Kallanish.
