German plant builders highly exposed to Russian orders
German builders of large industrial plants saw a rebound in 2021 from the trough of the first coronavirus year of 2020, according to mechanical engineering association VDMA.
VDMA’s subgroup for large plant builders, AGAB, revealed at an online conference that new orders rose 78% year-on-year to €21.2 billion ($23.4 billion). The driving force behind this upturn was demand from abroad, which surged 108%, with exports accounting for 85% of overall sales.
