German crude steel production slips on-year in May
Germany’s mills produced 3.8 million tonnes of crude steel in May 2017. This is -1% less than in May 2016, which however had been a very strong month, Kallanish learns from steel federation WV Stahl.
In the first five months of the year, crude steel production was 2.3% higher than in the corresponding 2016 period, reaching 18.618mt. This reflects the relatively strong development in the steel-using sectors in Germany and the EU, the federation remarks.
