German crude steel production gains slightly in April
Germany’s mills produced 3.3 million tonnes of crude steel in April, up 3% on the corresponding month of the previous year, Kallanish learns from national steel federation WV Stahl.
In the first four months of the year, output was up 5% on-year at 13mt. The year-on-year difference between the two periods is somewhat higher for electric arc furnace mills, with an 8% growth to 3.9mt. This can likely be attributed to the peaking of electricity prices last year …
