German crude steel production falls firmly in January

Crude steel production at German mills was -6.0% below that of January 2018, totalling 3.455 million tonnes, according to statistics from the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung (WV) Stahl. The difference was due mainly to a fall in production at electric-arc furnace mills, where the output dropped -13.6% year-on-year, to 906,000t, the federation notes.
