German exit from coal concerns steel industry
Germany's Coal Commission has decided that the country is to stop generating electricity from coal by the end of 2038 at the latest, Kallanish notes.
In a marathon session of 21 hours session that lasted from Friday 25 January into early Saturday morning, the committee of 28 delegates reached its decision, with only one vote against. Part of the discussion included demands from industries that power consumption be protected against sudden surges in prices.
