GCC HRC market awaits clarity on new deals
The Gulf Cooperation Council hot rolled coil market is awaiting clarity on potential new deals. Re-rollers have issued enquiries for a combined 40,000-45,000 tonnes of re-rolling grades (SAE1006, SAE1008) HRC for August shipment, Kallanish notes.
Ex-China ocean freight rates are up $5-10/t on week to $40-43/t, depending on lot size, which has been offset by Chinese futures falling for four consecutive days (see separate story).
