Formosa lawsuits rejected
Vietnamese courts are reportedly rejecting suits filed against the Formosa Ha Tinh steelworks by local fishermen.
Formosa has already paid $500 million after admitting responsibility for the death of local fish stocks and has been forced to delay the start-up of its first blast furnace, Kallanish notes.
Local fishermen had filed 506 individual cases claiming compensation from the steelworks and demanding its closure. At least 100 have now been rejected. Vietn…
