Formosa Ha Tinh fires up second blast furnace
Vietnam’s Formosa Ha Tinh has blown in its second blast furnace, doubling its capacity. The firm has been making waves in the local hot rolled coil market, where it has a dominant position, Kallanish notes.
The No. 2 blast furnace received approval from Vietnamese authorities on 11 May and will now begin ramping up to capacity. The ignition ceremony on Friday morning was attended by executives from Ha Tinh and its investors China Steel and JFE Steel.
