FMG secures approval for Solomon expansion
Australia’s FMG has received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency of Western Australia to expand its Solomon mining operation. The expansion will allow it to maintain production levels at the mine for an estimated 35 years, Kallanish notes.
The expansion will involve clearing another 12,146 hectares of land for mining. The mine currently covers 6,313 hectares. FMG says it does not intend to increase production capacity at the mine.
