Flats slump pulls down Ezz Steel's H1 sales
A slump in hot rolled coil sales dragged down Ezz Steel’s overall shipments in the first half of 2016 by -3% on-year to 2.04 million tonnes.
Flats sales, concentrated at Ezz Dekheila Steel (EZDK), declined -15% on-year to 323,000t in H1 due to lower production and weak international markets that made sales of flats unattractive. Flats sales generated 14% of revenue at EGP 1.2 billion ($135.2 million), while exports accounted for 32% of flats sales.
