Fitch revises up coking coal price assumptions
Fitch has raised its coking coal price assumptions by $10/tonne for each year in 2016 to 2018. This change reflects Chinese state efforts to limit production as well as the closure of high-cost mines elsewhere, according to the credit rating agency.
Hard coking coal on a fob Australia basis is now seen at $95/t in 2016, $100/t in 2017 and $105/t in 2018. Fitch’s new assumptions for 2019 and in the long-term are each $110/t.
