Egypt bucks MENA’s May DRI production growth
The direct reduced iron output of five Middle East and North African (MENA) countries increased in May compared to April and May 2023, while in Egypt it declined.
Algeria, with nearly 3.5 million tonnes of annual production, does not provide DRI output statistics to the World Steel Association, so only Libya, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Iran contribute to the figures, along with Egypt, Kallanish notes.
