Evraz develops new high-strength rail
Evraz ZSMK has developed DT400IK category rail, an improved variant of the special-strength DT370IK rail which currently has no equivalent, Russian steelmaker Evraz claims.
DT370IK rails are intended for complex railway sections and have a 13% higher wear resistance than general purpose rail. The new rail is harder on the surface and throughout the head cross section, and also has an optimum strength to ductility ratio, Evraz says.
