EU urges global steel transparency, less state intervention
Tackling unfair trade practices requires sustained international cooperation and the reduction to a minimum of state intervention in the steel industry, according to EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström.
Speaking at the OECD High-Level Symposium on Steel in Brussels on Monday, Malmström said the current global steel overcapacity and depressed steel prices are only partially a cyclical issue driven by market forces.
