EU remains top scrap supplier despite Turkey decline
The EU-28 remained the world’s leading steel scrap exporter in January-September 2019, with shipments rising 1.5% on-year to 16.19 million tonnes. Turkey was the main buyer but reduced its intake -5.8% to 8.12mt, according to the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR).
EU shipments to India and Egypt rose 45% and 24% respectively each to 1.47mt. However, deliveries to Pakistan fell -5% to 1.14mt, BIR says in its latest World Steel Recycling in Figures repor…
