EU-origin supply raises Turkey's 2017 steel imports
Turkey's steel imports increased 18.4% on-year to 20.9 million tonnes on the back of increased shipments from the EU, Kallanish understands from the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In value terms, Turkish steel imports surged 55% to $6.1 billion last year. Increased costs had an effect on this increase in scrap import value, the association explains in a statement.
