ESI raises rebar $23/t, Turkish mills encouraged
Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Steel (ESI) has increased its rebar price by AED 86/tonne ($23) from December to AED 1,818/tonne ($495) ex-works for January deliveries. The hike is due mainly to the rise in scrap prices over the last ten days, but market participants tell Kallanish it is large enough to open the door to Turkish-origin rebar bookings to United Arab Emirates for February shipment.
