ESI hikes rebar price despite weakened international sentiment
Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Steel (ESI) has increased its rebar price by AED 72/tonne ($19.6) from the previous month to AED 2,412/t ($657) ex-works for April deliveries. Market participants tell Kallanish this has come as a surprise as the general expectation in the international market is for a downtrend, especially after Chinese prices have plummeted since last Friday.
