ESI hikes rebar to four-year high
Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Steel (ESI) has increased its rebar price by AED 90/tonne ($25) from the previous month to AED 2,340/t ex-works ($637), excluding 5% VAT. This is ESI’s highest rebar price since June 2013.
The hike was prompted by the circa $15/t uptick in scrap prices since ESI announced its January-shipment quote in mid-December, as well as continued strong steel demand in United Arab Emirates.
