Esco starts new H-beam production
Esfahan Steel (Esco) has started production of 300mm H-beams, the first Iranian producer to do so, an Esco spokesman tells Kallanish. The first, 3,000-tonne batch has been delivered to a domestic customer.
Iranian demand for the product, which totals around 700,000 tonnes/year, has hitherto been met entirely by imports, mainly from China and South Korea. Esco will aim to reduce the need for these imports, and will also target H-beam exports to Europe in future.
