Emirates Steel drone inspections reduce shutdown time
Emirates Steel (ESI) says using drones to carry out maintenance inspections will eliminate plant shutdown time and save millions of dirhams in inspection costs.
The Abu Dhabi-based steelmaker has used the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for the first time to inspect off-gas flares at its two direct reduced iron plants. The new technology helped avoid a five-day shutdown in the DRI plants, which is typically required to inspect the flares, according to ESI.
