Zimbabwe electricity supplier works on connecting prospective steelworks
Zimbabwe’s Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) says it is following legal procedure to establish electricity supply to the Chivhu-based iron and steel plant. This comes after reports in local media blaming ZESA for delays in establishing a 97km-long high-voltage powerline to supply the prospective plant.
The plant is owned by Afrochine Smelting, a subsidiary of Beijing-based private stainless steel giant Tsingshan Group.
